Gidi Gov
גידי גוב
Singer & entertainer — one of Israel's most beloved voices · b. 1950

Biography
Gidi Gov, born in Rehovot in 1950, first became famous in the 1970s as the lead singer of the legendary rock band Kaveret — Israel's own 'Beatles moment' — and as a star of the iconic comedy group and TV shows that shaped Israeli humor.
After Kaveret disbanded, Gov built one of the most successful solo careers in Israeli pop. His 1983 album '40:06', produced by Yoni Rechter, is considered a masterpiece of Israeli pop-jazz — and 'Yesh Ei Sham' is its most loved ballad.
The words were written by Anat Gov — playwright and screenwriter, and Gidi's wife at the time — together with Yoni Rechter. She originally wrote it addressed to a man; Gidi flipped it, singing to a woman, and made it a classic.
Beyond music, Gidi Gov is a household name in Israel: TV host, radio personality, and a longtime judge on 'Kochav Nolad' (Israeli Idol), where he helped launch a generation of new singers.
